Cheongsam is traditional Chinese costume. It was women's daily life. Later, with time changes, it's rarely seen in life, but usually appears in some formal occasions, like wedding or reception. The design of cheongsam can flatter Chines women's virtuous, elegant, gentle and gorgeous temperaments. Now, it has become a popular choice for wedding dress.
In style, the features of cheongsam are a round lapel, sleeves, fitting waist design and long hen ending between knees and ankles. Traditional collar of cheongsam is high and tight from the chest to the neck to flatter slender neck of women. Normally, the collar is matched with Chinese knot buttonhole. Woman with long neck will totally looks stunning in long-collar cheongsam. Now, woman with short neck who was afraid to choose cheongsam wedding dress can try lower collar or V-neck cheongsams. The length of sleeves can be generally classified into usually T-shirt sleeves, middle-length sleeves, three-quarter sleeves and long sleeves. Brides can choose depending on the weather. Sleeveless type is now accepted. For women with slim arms, they may choose sleeveless. The fabrics of cheongsam are silk, brocade silk, satin, brocade satin, velour and jacquard cotton. The tradition fabric is silk which is suitable for slim woman. This material is fitting and shiny to present plump figure. While this material is expensive and difficult to get cleaned, so designers turn to find other materials. They can be also worn by fat people and easily cleaned. In summer, brides can choose light and soft materials. In winter, brides can choose heavy and thick fabrics. Red is the most traditional and favourite color. It means good luck. It's suitable for older brides. To some young brides, rose, white, yellow and oranges are all available selections. For mother of bride who also wants to wear cheongsam, crimson is a good color.
