Curtain Call: A Peek at the New Stardust Playhouse in Monterey

Grief, loss and forgiveness are the challenging themes Kirsten Clapp and her mother Judie Rogers Swartz chose to negotiate in the first performance in their newly opened theater, Stardust Playhouse.

The mother-daughter team have been dreaming of a theater of their own for years and after finding a small space with reasonable rent across the street from Planet Gemini on Fremont, the dream is now a reality.

After being thoroughly impressed with her rendition of "Bug" at Paper Wing's (tiny) Gallerie Theatre in May, I was curious to experience the new space and check out Clapp's latest work, "Rabbit Hole" and share it via the magical medium of video.

Lucky for all of us Clapp was gracious enough to give me an all-access pass to her new playhouse, cast and crew. What follows is the first installment of the Weekly's "Curtain Call" video series that looks to delve into the many theater venues, directors, actors and writers that call Monterey County their creative home.
