Jack London's Gameday/Happy Hour Deals Include Pizza-and-a-Pitcher Package
December 2, 2011
As the NFL season adds a Thursday night game for the remainder of the season, local watering holes are expanding their football-focused deals accordingly.
I ran a fly pattern into Jack London's Neighborhood Pub & Grill in Carmel (624-2336) to see how its pigskin deals develop.
The Sunday-Monday-Thursday gameday discounts are decent, and also active during 4-6pm weekday happy hour—and made better by comparison to a menu where the appetizers don't go for less than $10, which qualifies as a little steep for potato skins or artichoke-and-jalapeño dip.
Most pitchers are $5 off at $15 (choices include Blue Moon, Harp and Fat Tire), house martinis are $6, wells and wines $5, domestic bottles two for $5. A pizza and pitcher runs $25, a basket of onion rings $6, cheeseburger-and-beer $12.
The $5 turkey sausage sandwich I tried delivered nice spice and sauerkraut on a soft roll for $5, but its tubing tangled my teeth up more than I'd like and it enjoyed no accompaniment besides a sad tomato wedge.
Atmospherically, the dining room was empty despite some roomy booths and big flat screens, but the bar was full and the cute Carmel brick patio presents a nice nook that would do well with the happy hour values.
Go Niners.
