'Que Syrah' Delivers Small-Batch Santa Lucia Tastes for a Song

The land of Santa Lucia does some incredible Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays with ever-increasing fame. But its Syrahs are something special themselves.

A big fat assemblage of evidence to that effect will gather in one place Saturday, March 19, with the first-ever “Que Syrah” at Wrath Winery noon-4:30pm.

Small-batch Syrahs from Big Basin, Boekenoogen, Hahn, Manzoni, Miura, Morgan, Novy, Paraiso, Pelerin, Pessagno and Wrath will all be available for tastes.

"In term of the scope of Syrahs in the world and in California," says Wrath Winemaker Sabrine Rodems, "these are classic cool-climate Syrahs, not such big monsters where you have one big, rich glass and you're kinda done, or you have to go find food.

"You can drink them by themselves, or with food. They're more interesting, more complex, more subtle."

Hahn Chef Brian Overhauser—last seen winning the Best in Field at Harvest Carmel—will do the eats.

At $25, this thing is a capital-S Syrah Steal. Call 678-2212 x21 for going-quick tix.
