Monster Summer Weekend Rolls On, From Ron White to MotoGP Parties to Reggae Festival
July 28, 2012
It's one of those supreme summer weekends where the amount of activity in lil' ol' Monterey County approaches a prodigious per-capita ascendency.
Ron White, man of unrelenting honesty including “'I’m sorry you feel that way' is the nicest possible way of saying 'fuck you,'" takes the stage at Fox Theater in Salinas.
Catch up on White's recent protests, pronouncements and potty humor with the Weekly piece "FADE TO WHITE: Blue-collar comedy bad-boy Ron White totes scotch and surprising sensitivity to Salinas" by clicking here. There you can also find ticket info...
Monterey Bay Reggaefest—headlined by Judy Mowatt—was already blazing away last night on three stages, with a sea of colorful crafts and culture inbetween, and probably peaking by tonight before carrying into Mowatt and Spawnbreezie appearances Sunday.
And with the Red Bull U.S. Moto Grand Prix burning around Laguna Seca—and Nicky Hayden leading American hopes—at least on cab driver I know is calling it both one of the most annoying and lucrative weekends of the year.
The best bet for a post final party will be Cannery Row Brewing Company, which just added a door to the firepit patio, and is revving parties with drink specials and DJs every night the races are in town, culminating with a closing party: Sunday will bring live music upstairs plus more DJ developments downstairs…which will accelerate things past beyond the yeehaw last year that forced security to push hundreds into the streets at 2am, thanks in part to the appearance of MotoGP wonder boy Valentino Rossi.
