First Whole Foods Parking Lot, Then Yoga Girl, Now Put Your Phone Away

You don't want to mess with the food blog police.

This fruitful forum and all its attendant flavor is fleeting if you stray too far from food and wine talk. In other words, if your food blog isn't so much food, you're in trouble.

A little inspiring beer clairvoyance here, a little kangaroo steak there, and don't stray too far from stuff you can put in your mouth and digest. Get too cute with non-culinary stuff—I barely got away with the baby-monkey-on-the-back-of-a-pig bit—and the food blog police come for you. They call it flogging for a reason. (Do the math: food + blog = flog.)

But I swear this is food-related. These are the Fog & Smog brothers that brought us the defining faux rap anthem about our Whole Foods neuroses. That means when they introduced us to "Yoga Girl," I had to patch you through. And now that they have found another annoying and telling quirk about us modern technology-fiend humanoids, I have to throw "Put Your Phone Down" your way.

Because it deserves digesting in the best way.

Totally love it, thanks, Mark. And thanks to Fog & Smog!

I've long thought that Stephen Stills could produce a great "put your phone down" PSA accompanied by "Love the One You're With."

Eric Okerblom would probably appreciate this Fog & Smog vid too--especially if it had been seen earlier, and taken to heart, by the woman who was texting when she hit 19yo Eric with her car. He was biking. Boom. Dead.

Eric's dad has joined Fog & Smog's refrain: Excuse me, lady, could you please put your phone down?

Eric's dad is leading a distracted driving protest ride through the Monterey Bay region April 14-16. Deets: http://marilynch.com/blog/mad-sos-erics-dad-ride-to-stop-distracted-driving.html
