Carmel to Name Director for Its Artisan Farmers Market Within Hours

The ad hoc group formed to select a director for Carmel’s highly anticipated artisan outdoor market—or whatever they’re calling what will essentially be a farmers market plus plus in the Sunset Center parking lot—has what's alleged to be its last meeting right about now.
The group, including celeb food journo Eric Schlosser, Carmel Chamber of Commerce CEO Monta Potter, Mayor Jason Burnett (who made food and walkability a part of his winning election platform) and Councilwoman Victoria Beach, meet with the two finalists today then meet independently to mint a winner directly thereafter.
Beach anticipates a three to five month timeline from there for the director to amass vendors and lay the sucker out.
“I expect we’ll see something on the ground in late spring,” she says.
She declines to name the finalists, but adds, “I think we can’t lose. Either one would do great.”
Fly to the Weekly Facebook to name something or some vendor you would just love to see at the market, even if it’s your own goods. (Pezzini artichoke truck? PigWizard, back from Europe? Haulin’ Oats? Happy Girl hard cider?) Extra points for something atypical but still awesome.

UPDATE: Citing a unexpected procedural wrinkle, committee chair Beach says they weren't able to make a decision yet. Oh, the bureaucracy.
