Local Music Phenom Lauren Shera Launches Video and More

There aren't many musicians that can stand up to the natural ability of Lauren Shera. The young, Carmel Valley-native not only expertly tackles any instrument put in front of her, she has an accompanying voice that can even make the hairs stand up on the smoothest of waxed backs.

Recently, Shera released a new video for the song "Storyteller" off her debut album Once I Was A Bird. The tune is a demonstration of this nubile songstress's undeniable talent that continues to grow with everything she does.

And Shera's lyrics match her musicianship: She's earnest and her prose are simple yet gripping. It's apparent from "Storyteller's" opening lines: "Tell me a story that i have never heard before/ Make it so good that I don't know what the truth is anymore."

The indie-folk singer-songwriter recently scored a spot on the Communion tour—after bonding during her first Bonnaroo appearance—the innovation of Mumford & Sons keyboardist, Ben Lovett, producer Ian Grimble and Mumford collaborator Kevin Jones. Communion will be in Monterey County Oct. 21-23 for Communion in the Redwoods at Fernwood in Big Sur, alongside Jackie Greene, The David Mayfield Parade, Matthew and the Atlas and more.

I've been following Shera for a few years now and many folks have followed her before she was on my radar; it's safe to say that if there is anyone that's gonna make it, place your bets on this musical anomaly. Check her out in these intimate moments before it's too late. Shera is the kind of entity I'll write about until the pen is stripped from my hand.
