Steve Earle to Play Solo Acoustic Show in Big Sur
August 10, 2012
"Me, I'm spiritually retarded, I need to be knee deep in water with a fly rod in my hands, that's about as close to God as I get."
If there's anyone who can use the word "retarded" eloquently, it's Steve Earle. The singer-songwriter/author/political advocate/blue collar philosopher will visit Big Sur's Henry Miller Library October 3 for a solo acoustic performance (ticket go on sale Aug. 11 at noon)
Earle's I'll Get the Word Out, released April 2011, is no longer available to stream in its entirety on NPR but there's live footage below of his NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert performance, which is even better.
“I make an embarrassing amount of money for a borderline Marxist, just by selling 100,000 records. I don't sell millions of records, and I don't need to.”
