Alanis Morissette to Play Henry Miller Library

I can't really remember the last time Alanis Morissette popped into my head. It might have been as long ago as 1999, when she played God in Kevin Smith's vulgar exploration of religion, Dogma. I remember thinking how it made sense that the Canadian was cast in that role. Maybe there's something about her definitive Jagged Little Pill that conveys omnipotence and omniscience and that had been hammered into my subconscious after hearing "You Oughta Know" (allegedly inspired by Full House's Dave Coulier) 9,782 times on the radio in the mid-90s.
Nearly two decades after selling more than 30 million copies of Jagged Little Pill and earning her place as one of the most dynamic female singers in pop history, Morissette is readying to release Havoc and Bright Lights, her first album since 2008. More importantly, the angsty songstress will be bringing her tireless lung capacity to Big Sur on Oct. 2 at the Henry Miller Library (tickets go on sale 8/17 at 10am at http://henrymiller.org/).
