Just Announced: Free Sic Alps Show in Big Sur

San Francisco garage-rock, Drag City record label and openers for Sonic Youth. You may think that all that indie cred must be the result of churning out tunes with titles like "1/2 Rabbit Sandwich with Fries" and "The First White Man to Touch California Soil." But the Sic Alps—fronted by Mike Donovan—ain't no gimmick; just ask Bay Area mainstays Thee Oh Sees or Ty Segall. This band of ragamuffin, lo-fi, hook-slinging musicians, knows the right ball sags slightly lower than the left and isn't trying to fool anyone into thinking otherwise.

On Friday, Feb. 24 at 9pm, the noise pop outfit will play a free show (with special guest Patrick Mullins) at Fernwood in Big Sur before heading up to San Francisco to play Brick & Mortar Music Hall the following night (with Asabov Sobelo, No Boss and Patrick Mullins). These fellas are worth checking out, especially if there isn't a cover charge. Both shows are presented by (((folkYEAH!)))
