Birdhouse to Play Thursday's Independent Marketplace in Sand City
July 31, 2012
The Independent Marketplace—held the first Thursday of every month in Sand City—has been getting props, deservedly, for its cornucopia of cuisine offerings. As an event that dubs itself an "experiment in food, music, art and culture," it's about time to acknowledge the goodness they're delivering in the music department under the leadership of Brian Conway.
Thursday's Marketplace will feature Santa Cruz jam band fave Birdhouse (7pm), who have been been doing some exciting things lately: A few weeks ago, they sold out the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and on July 21, the outfit shared a bill with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood at the Freaks for the Festival at Pappy & Harriet's. Check them out below.
The North Pacific String Band—another popular Santa Cruz act, who features members of Birdhouse, On The Spot Trio and The Family Hogwash—kick off the live music at the Marketplace with its infectious brand of West Coast bluegrass. DJ C-Lo will also be on hand.
