Bob Weir & More on Tap at the Golden State Theatre
October 18, 2012
The Grateful Dead's Bob Weir can't stay away from Monterey, which is a good thing for us. A year ago, he performed two soldout shows with Furthur at the Fairgrounds and Sunday, Dec. 16, he'll return for a special acoustic-solo show (Ticket info TBA). But that's not all. Weir will have a special guest on hand who will also perform a solo-acoustic set: Salinas native Jackie Greene. They'll most likely get together for a couple jams.
Before Weir and the dirty dreads with their dogs take over Alvarado, on Nov. 15, The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and The Robert Cray Band will deliver some top-notch blues to the State Theatre. Between both these outfits, they have enough awards to fill every page of Mitt's "notebook of women." Tickets on sale now HERE.

Great to see the Golden State Theatre start off with a bang. Seems like there lots of good upcoming shows in the both the main hall and the lobby (with a few unannounced like Mark Sultan, KRS-One).
But why the acoustic shows? I did not attend the Patti Smith show because for the price, I expect to see a full band. Bob Weir's tour is all acoustic, so that is more understandable, but the Smith show seemed more like an afterthought.
I hope that these shows will be well attended. Cheap Time on Monday will be my first look at the new GST.
