Grants Expands Library's Reach to Kids

Salinas Public Libraries announced Wednesday it received a one-year $84,000 grant from First5 of Monterey County to provide play groups for children.

The program, Read Grow Play, is expected to reach more than 500 Salinas parents and children up to 5 years old.

“Having the library participate in this initiative is good for the community, and important for our library,” said Maria Roddy, deputy librarian, in a statement. “It helps broaden our range of services and demonstrates our commitment to the community."

Workshops are scheduled to begin later in the month. To sign up, call 758-7917.
