Benefit Shops Seize Valentine's Spirit

Alas, that special day when lovers shower their significant others with heart-shaped boxes and other fanciful gifts is almost upon us, and three Carmel benefit shops are looking to help Monterey County residents display their affection while helping a good cause. The SPCA Benefit Shop, the Yellow Brick Road Benefit Shop and Joining Hands Benefit Shop will all feature Valentine’s Day specials, refreshments and romantic music at each of their locations near the Barnyard Shopping Village in Carmel on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10am to 4pm.

Interfaith Outreach of Carmel operates Joining Hands Benefit Shop as a fundraiser for to the agencies addressing the housing issues in Monterey County. The SPCA has been an agency dedicated to the humane treatment and care of both wild and domestic animals in Monterey County since 1905, and proceeds from its benefit shop are put to work rescuing Monterey’s furry residents found down-on-their-luck. The Yellow Brick Road Benefit Shop has given away over $3.5 milliion to the Monterey County community in the last twenty years through grants to local nonprofit groups.
