Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District taps new manager
January 13, 2011
James Sulentich, currently executive director of the Santa Lucia Conservancy, was named general manager of the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District at a board meeting Jan. 13.
“He’s local, he knows the issues,” says MPRPD Board Chair Jennifer Fellguth.
Sulentich, 56, a former Texas state director of the Nature Conservancy, will begin the work of overseeing the district’s 20,000 acres of parkland and open space Feb. 22 at an annual salary of $150,000.
He replaces former manager Joe Donofrio who came under fire in recent months for his $249,000 yearly paycheck. Donofrio was to continue with the district as a consultant until March, but he has stepped down.
