Cilantro Recall in Salinas
January 28, 2011
Salinas-based Tanimura & Antle has voluntarily issued a recall on some fresh cilantro because the cilantro may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the California Department of Public Health. To date, no illnesses have been reported and the recall is a precautionary measure.
The cilantro has been on grocery store shelves since January 14. Though it may no longer be available for purchase, consumers who still have the potentially contaminated cilantro in their homes are being urged by public health officials not to eat it.
The affected cilantro is bunched in twist ties that can be identified by the text, “Produce of USA, Cilantro #4889” and the UPC code 33383 80104.
