'Golf in the Kingdom' Set to Hit Theaters

After much anticipation and making its way through a slew of would-be producers, Esalen founder Michael Murphy's prismatic novel Golf in the Kingdom lights up the silver screen this Friday.

The film was written and directed by Susan Streitfeld, who has no ties to the game of golf, and independently produced by Mindy Affrime. Produced on less than a shoestring budget according to the New York Times, Streitfeld admits that she took a much more organic approach to developing the film than she has before.

Mark C. Anderson got the inside skinny last year as the film was in the early stages of production, getting some great insight from Murphy himself on the basis of the book and what its really all about. Read his words here.
