State Denies Moss Landing Harbor Disaster Relief Funds

Moss Landing Harbor District is claiming about $1.75 million in damages from the March 11 tsunami. But it won't get the disaster relief it requested from the state, because it applied for the funding too late.

California Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Renick says the harbor district was ruled ineligible for the state's 18.75 percent share of the damages because it didn't make its claim in time to be included in the governor's proclamation of an emergency.

The district is still waiting for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to weigh in. If FEMA agrees to help, it'll cover 75 percent of the damages.
