Lewis Lands Big Endorsement

The Monterey County Democratic Central Committee met Tuesday and heard presentations for endorsement from candidates Brenda Lewis and Tom Mancini for the open seat on the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District board, with Lewis ultimately getting the nod.
Lewis’ MCDCC endorsement is a big blow to Mancini’s campaign as the Former Seaside City Councilman has had trouble keeping track of his endorsements as of late.
Alvin Edwards, a 13-year veteran of the board, was elected to the Seaside City Council in November, replacing Mancini and leaving a seat open on the divided water board. Though Lewis and Mancini are both democrats, they represent different viewpoints on future water use—Lewis leaning more toward smart-growth and Mancini backing pro-growth.
