County Picks Interim Water Agency Boss

The Monterey County Water Resources Agency has found a temporary stand-in for former General Manager Curtis Weeks, who stepped down amid a conflict-of-interest scandal related to the Regional Desalination Project.

A consent calendar item on Tuesday's Board of Supervisors agenda includes approval of a contract with DCS Consulting. Under the agreement, David Cardovoyne would serve as MCWRA's interim general manager until June 30, 2012, for $18,000 per month.

From the board report:

"Mr. Chardavoyne brings extensive water resources and management experience to the position. He has worked for both private companies and public agencies in 18 states and Puerto Rico, as well as foreign countries. He has held key executive positions at San Antonio Water System, Thames Water Holdings Incorporated, United Waterworks, and Citizens Utilities Company. Mr. Chardavoyne holds a B. S. in Engineering , University of Wisconsin ; M. S. in Engineering; Cornell University; and an MBA in Finance from University of Connecticut."
