Two Salinas Valley State Prison Inmates Still On the Loose

Two Salinas Valley State Prison inmates who walked away from the Minimum Support Facility in Soledad Saturday are still on the loose, according to SVSP Spokesman Michael Nilsson.

Staff at the MSF determined during an inmate count Saturday night that 32-year-old Omar Ramirez and 22-year-old Yovanni Peralta Diaz (mug shots below) were missing. Less than 10 minutes later, staff initiated SVSP's escape pursuit plan.

Ramirez had been at SVSP since Dec. 30, 2009 on charges of possessing a firearm as an ex-felon. Diaz arrived on Sept. 14 of this year for transportation and sale of controlled substances.

The prison is currently working with local and state law enforcement agencies to locate the escapees. Anyone with information about or knowledge of the location of either of the escapees should call 911 or SVSP's watch commander at (831) 678-5542.
