The first heavy rains of the year fell this weekend causing the first major rock slide on the Big Sur coast and closing Highway 1 near Limekiln Creek.
Caltrans crews are monitoring a stretch of road south of Big Sur at post mile 22 and assessing the damage. There is currently no estimate on when the road would re-open.
