Memorial Hospital Pharmacists Join National Union of Healthcare Workers

The National Union of Healthcare Workers adopted eighteen Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital pharmacists as new members on March 15.

The non-union pharmacists haven’t received a pay increase in over three years and lost out on thousands of dollars due to pension tweaks by senior administrators.

The pharmacy department at SVMH has struggled due to the subcontracting of supervisor positions, leaving the pharmacists worried they may not have a voice in patient care as the hospital transfers to a new owner.
