15-Year-Old Male Shot and Killed in Salinas.

Ignacio Manuel Reyes,15, became Salinas' fifth homicide victim of the year after Salinas police officers responded to reports of a shooting in Acosta Plaza on Sunday evening. Reyes, a students at Everett Alvarez High School, was shot once in the torso.
According to Salinas Police detectives, the victim was standing in the neighborhood with another male when a young, Hispanic approached and shot at the two victims several times, striking the victim once.
The male standing near Reyes has yet to be identified, according to Salinas police detectives and it is unknown if he was involved.
Two officers from the Violence Suppression Unit arrived near 914 Acosta Plaza where the victim was unresponsive and had no pulse. He was transferred to Natividad Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses reported the suspect running down Acosta Plaza toward Laurel Drive.
The shooting is being investigated as gang-related and according to Lane, the victim had been arrested previously by Salinas police in January 2012.
