River Ranch to Lay Off 300 Employees

Salinas ag giant River Ranch Fresh Foods has announced it will be laying off some 300 employees at its Abbott Street vegetable processing plant.
River Ranch is a subsidiary of Taylor Fresh Foods and according to director of marketing Kim St. George many of the displaced employees will take up vacancies in two local Taylor Fresh Foods plants.
River Ranch is one of the Big Four fresh produce processors in the U.S. with another processing and cooling plant in El Centro, Ca. and despite the layoffs will continue to use the Salinas plant for cooling purposes.
