Salinas Valley Memorial CEO Replacement Declines Position

After narrowing down their search for a new CEO earlier this month, Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System administrators announced that Matt Gerlach will not be taking the helm after all.

The hospital announced Gerlach as their first choice for the CEO position on Feb. 12, with SVMH Board President Harry Wardwell calling him, "an exceptional leader" and "just the right person to see this organization through the transformational years to come."

It turns out the devil is in the details, as Gerlach seems to have shied away after going over unresolved issues including contract length and severance specifics.

Gerlach will keep his current position at Glendale Memorial Hospital near Los Angeles.
