Senior Class: CSUMB Continues Course Offerings for 50-and-up

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at CSU Monterey Bay is continuing its sixth year of courses for people ages 50 and up, touching on topics from Gabriel Garcia Marquez to the Chinese economy.

A highlight of this semester is a five-session class on “Joseph Cambell: Nature, Myth and Art,” taught by San Jose State University English professor Susan Shillinglaw.

Former Assemblymember Fred Kelley will teach a course called “The New California: Is Change Real in Our Future?” Another class covers the mystery of submarine canyons and the evolution of marine mammals in Central California.

Other courses include writing classes, the “Good Reads” book club, political conflict in cinema, and gender in American culture.

Attendees can purchase individual classes or get an annual membership, which includes tuition for six classes at $180 or four classes for $120. Unlimited courses can be purchased for $210.
