March trial for restaurant owner accused in Salinas' XL Grindhouse attempted murder case
January 9, 2013
A restaurant owner accused of beating a homeless man in Salinas nearly to death last year is set to face a jury in March.
After Robert DeLeon, one of the owners of XL Grindhouse, pleaded not guilty in court this morning, Judge Pamela Butler set a trial for March 4.
Robert DeLeon, 43, faces charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon for the alleged beating of a homeless man last October.
Similar charges against the man’s brother and restaurant co-owner James DeLeon, 32, were dropped late last month, after he pleaded no contest to a felony charge of being an accessory after the fact.
James DeLeon’s sentencing is set for February 19.
