PHOTOS: 2012 Monterey Jazz Festival

A huge lineup of jazz greats played a huge amount of great sets at the 55th annual Monterey Jazz Festival this weekend.

Singer Tony Bennett brought his classic sound on Saturday night following a funky trio set by guitarist Pat Metheny, bassist Christian McBride and drummer Jack DeJohnette.

DeJohnette would also play a killer, improvised set with Bill Frisell on Sunday in Dizzy's Den. It was wild and jazz fans know DeJohnette's weird drumming from the avant-garde Miles Davis classic album "Bitches Brew."

Daytime sets on the main stage saw sizzling performances by Trombone Shorty on Saturday and bass player Esperanza Spalding on Sunday.
