Monterey County Fair

Since cavemen began cooking, humans have used the poking powers of the simple stick to create delicious and easy-to-carry foods. The Monterey County Fair rides that food-on-a-stick tradition and takes it beyond grilled meats. Chocolate-covered cheesecake on a stick makes any popsicle look puny; frozen bananas or corn dogs fresh from the fryer are fixtures that even eclipse cell phones for things most commonly seen in people’s hands. Somewhere on the ferris wheel, a couple breaks apart a deep fried Twix on a stick, and memories are made. Summer is snacks, so put them on a stick and stick it in your mouth.
