Old Capitol Books is a hub of intellectual and artistic activity. They host regular poetry readings, book readings and signings and political theory discussions in an intimate gathering around a table. For instance, Jan Knippers Black, a professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, talks about her involvement with Amnesty International as part of a talk about her book The Politics of Human Rights Protection. Which is a good segue to the books—new, used and antiquarian—which cover everything from local history to literature, gardening to science fiction, biography to, yes, kittens and puppies.
