Garland Ranch Regional Park

700 W. Carmel Valley Road, Carmel Valley

(831) 372-3196, www.mprpd.org

With trails that cut through oak savannas, redwood canyons and hillsides of chaparral, that snake along a river, a creek and beside stunning rock formations, Carmel Valley’s Garland Ranch is a park that has it all. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure trek where the only limitation is how long – and how hard – one would like to hike. With elevations that stretch from 200 to 2,000 feet, one can stroll through the meadows or charge up to Snively’s Ridge, where panoramic views of the northern Santa Lucia Mountains – and the sea – await. And perhaps the best thing about Garland is that dogs are most welcome, because there’s nothing your best friend loves more than hiking by your side.
