A large motorhome fire on Del Monte Avenue near the Seaside Auto Mall shut down traffic in both directions this afternoon.

According to Seaside Battalion Fire Chief Troy Leist, a call came in at 3:45pm about a Winnebago motorhome on fire. There were no injuries reported.

"There was no one around when we arrived to the vehicle fully engulfed in flames," he says. "It is a total loss and we don't know who the owner is yet."

Traffic was shut down from Tioga Avenue until Clementina Avenue. Around 5:30pm, Del Monte Avenue was becoming open to traffic.

"We do not have a cause yet," says Leist. "When we first arrived there were a few smaller explosions of aerosol cans and possibly a propane tank."
