The "B" in this band's name is one Brianna Lee, a NorCal-born now L.A.-based singer-songwriter and studio vocalist best known for her work on films like The Lion King (2019), La La Land (2016) and Creed II (2018). She tours regularly with Elvis Costello, and since her 2014 move to L.A. has compiled a long list of collaborations with L.A. A-listers like Katy Perry, Nick Jonas, John Legend, Smashing Pumpkins, Don Was, Ziggy Marley and scores of others. She drops her film credits and instead comes through Big Sur this weekend as lead singer and songwriter for a one-nighter with a five-piece outfit in tow, including co-songwriter and producer Josh Barrett on bass, Hannah Joy-Brooke on keyboards, Hayden Gardner on drums, and Eric Novak on lead guitar. The band tours constantly and has opened for the likes of Goo Goo Dolls, Alanis Morrisette, Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, Allen Stone and many others and musically, the mashup is similar to all of the above. Think a female version of Chris Isaak and Jackson Browne-like melody and chord structures only without the politics doing easy listening, hook-laden pop love songs instead. And don't be surprised if they do an equally heartfelt cover or two, like a soft-rock version of Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love", Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" or even "Dreams" by The Cranberries. [PF]
