Is the state of the world getting you down a little? If the answer is yes, you have the opportunity to temporarily forget about climate catastrophe, political turmoil and social unrest for a few hours at the Comedy Variety Showcase’s debut show at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts. Hosted by local theater arts teacher Maria Dawson, the show will feature acts that embrace every iteration of comedy, from standup to improv to impressions and more. Born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula, the multi-talented Dawson has set her sights on curating an array of comedic talents from around the area, highlighting comedy’s ability to bring people together for the primary purpose of having a good time.
