Some people think organizers of Christmas on the Wharf ask Santa to set up on Old Fisherman’s Wharf. But really, the jolly old elf is there because he wants to be part of the fun—as in three weekends of music, caroling, food, cider, hot chocolate, drawings, demonstrations, events for the kids, lights...Santa is good at making lists, but even he has trouble keeping up with everything that goes on during Christmas on the Wharf. Just some of the highlights include performances by local dance groups, choir performances, meet and greets with local authors, a chance to tour the Monterey Fire Boat and see it in action and, well, more. For those in the true spirit of giving, there will also be a toy drop off. And nearby in Portola Plaza an ice skating rink awaits. There’s some bonus time with Santa on Dec. 23. Added bonus: Locals get two hours of free parking all three weekends. Bring an ID; Santa may know who you are, but the guards don’t. [DF]
