It's a collaboration made in heaven: The professional musicians of Monterey County Pops! and the young performers of the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts will hold a two-hour residency in which the pros will rehearse with the students, focusing on musical pieces selected from curriculum they have been studying. And then, together, they will perform a free concert, including "Tierra Mestiza," "La Bruja," "Adelita," "De Colores" and "La Bamba." The Monterey County Pops! also performs traditional Latin music, classical favorites and music from the film CoCo. Student performers include the ACFA Performing Ensemble (guitars, strings and percussion), Baile Folklórico Alma y Tradición (two dance ensembles performing traditional dances of Veracruz and Jalisco) and the Mariachi Juvenil Alisal of the Alisal Union School District. The residency will be open to the public, from 3-5pm, doors open for the concert at 6pm and the concert follows at 6:30pm. [MD]
