Even mermaids, celebrated for their mesmerizing beauty throughout ancient myths, can feel uncomfortable about their looks and have the desire to fit in. This play, based on a Danish story published in 1837 that became known across the world with the Disney film, follows one mermaid whose heart compels her to leave her home. Ariel, who lives in an underwater kingdom ruled by her father, gets her first glimpse of life above sea level when witnessing a birthday party on a boat for a prince she admires from afar. Her intense crush compels her to make a deal with Ursula the sea witch, the underwater equivalent of the Devil, to trade her angelic voice for legs so she can meet the prince. Ariel's pursuit of pure love becomes bigger than herself, however, when the consequences of the her deal threaten the well being of her new sweetheart, her family and her community. Performances occur at 7:30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with matinee shows at 3pm on Sunday.
