Indigenous People's Day reimagines Columbus Day and changes a celebration of colonialism into an opportunity to celebrate indigenous people and their history resistance. At this local gathering, led by Sand City Mayor (and indigenous woman) Mary Ann Carbone, there will be a ceremonial gathering circle, dinner and fellowship, with traditional food served by Daian (with potluck or your own special dishes welcome). If you can make the time to get there early, at 3:30pm, there will be a special hands-on lesson on making fry bread. [MD]
