Country music is missing more artists that are like the young Caitlin Jemma. Jemma brings back what is so beloved by old school, Willy Nelson-era country. The lackadaisical vocals that go from a yodeling howl to Bob Dylan-esque sing-talk combined with the simple acoustic guitar melodies combine catchy lyrics bait faithful genre listeners for sure. But she's not a complete throw back. The warm familiarity (like Dolly Parton, honestly) of her voice blend with unique and modern arrangements more akin to a cabaret blues singer in songs like "Still Dreamin'." She introduces locals to her newest album Love Notes at Barmel. [MA]
