The poet/songwriter-in-residence of Joshua Tree will be riding his 16' travel trailer to Monterey for his third local show. He’s been performing using his stage name Rags and Bones, but his everyday name—Rags Rosenberg—has a better ring to it and might be more suited to his troubadour image. He describes his sound as “mythopoetic folk music” and invokes the tradition of Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits. There’s at least one thing Rags accomplished that none of those three greats have done: he’s the only poet ever to have published a piece in Fine Homebuilding Magazine. That tidbit becomes less bizarre when you consider that Rags, who is now 70, supported his kids not as a musician but as the owner of a remodeling business. [AS]
