Founded in 2003, this foursome met while they were all students at the Paris Conservatory, (Conservatoire de Paris) became fast friends and just as quickly garnered accolades by winning three consecutive high-level competitions - the Frits Philips String Quartet competition in Eindhoven in 2004, the Vittorio Rimbotti competition in Florence in 2005 and the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York in 2006. Now in their 15th anniversary season, they enjoy their Carmel debut this weekend as the second of Carmel Music Society's five-concert 93rd season offering a varied program of W.A. Mozart's Quartet in C Major, nicknamed "Dissonant" owing to its unusually slow introduction; Felix Mendelssohn's lyrical and fanciful Capriccio in E Minor, Op.81, No.3; and the Hungarian folk dance-influenced Quartet in A Minor, by Johannes Brahms.
