Along Came Betty

The hard-bop jazz quintet Along Came Betty performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1999, 2003 and opened the 50th Anniversary show on the festival's Garden Stage in 2007. The band also performed at the Big Sur Jazz Festival in 2000 and 2002. As jazz artists, Along Came Betty rides the enjoyable wave initiated by such jazz legends as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock. Trumpeter Brian Stock is the son of one of Monterey County's most revered local musicians, Jake Stock and the Abolone Stompers, who played in the Monterey and Big Sur area back in the 1970s. The rest of the players include Biff Smith on piano, Paul Tarantino on saxophone, Patrick Tregenza on drums and Pete Lips on bass.
