Burnt Palms

Burnt Palms playing at Bay of Pines in Monterey on February 21, 2014.

Burnt Palms (Drummer Clara Nieto, singer/guitarist Christina Riley and bassist Brian Dela Cruz) “Rather Die” initiates a flurry of imagery encompassing teen angst, Doc Martens and flannel shirts – think mid-90s riot grrrl meets Seattle grunge rock a la Hole. The punk-saturated “Sun Shine” packages irony with crunchy bar chords and Riley’s vocals, which resemble early Courtney Love minus the screaming. Nieto’s simple drumbeats bring the elements together neatly, helping give the music its magnetic momentum.
