Between 1986 and 2000, Lovers and Strangers—led by guitarist Steve Sippel and singer/guitarist Ray Bertolini—were one of the most popular rock bands in Monterey. After the death of drummer Chris Costanza, Lovers and Strangers reunited for a sold out show at Monterey Live in the summer of 2007. Their “Crazy” recalls the straight ahead rock of the ‘80s, while “Please Don’t Say Go XX” features guitar work similar to early U2 until the poppy, wide open chorus.
