Lexi Kent-Monning

State Sen. Bill Monning’s daughters presented him with this mini-piñata in recognition of the last day of the legislative session, and Monning’s last day as an elected state representative for our region. Monning was first elected to the state legislature in 2008 and has now termed out. The slogan “You Tell ‘Em Bill!” originated during his first foray into politics in 1993, the year of his near-successful run for Congress to replace Leon Panetta. Monning won more votes on Election Day, but lost to Sam Farr by 1,800 votes once the absentee ballots rolled in
